Yellow Fever

Anti-Malarial Medication
Malaria is present throughout Tanzania. Consult your doctor about prophylaxis options: Malarone, Doxycycline, or Mefloquine are commonly prescribed.
Mosquito Bite Prevention
Use DEET-based repellent (30-50%), wear long sleeves/pants at dusk and dawn, and sleep under mosquito nets.
Symptoms to Watch
Fever, chills, headache, muscle aches within weeks of return. Seek immediate medical attention if symptoms appear.
Important Reminder
Continue taking anti-malarial medication for the recommended period after returning home (usually 1-4 weeks depending on the medication). Symptoms can appear up to a year after travel.

Wildlife Safety
- Never exit the vehicle during game drives unless permitted
- Keep arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times
- Don't make loud noises or sudden movements near animals
- Follow your guide's instructions exactly
- Never come between a mother and her young
- Maintain safe distance from all wildlife
Camp Safety
- Stay inside your tent/room after dark
- Use a flashlight when moving around at night
- Listen for night guards' instructions
- Don't leave food in your tent
- Be cautious near water sources (crocodiles, hippos)
- Store valuables in the provided safe
General Safety
- Stay hydrated - drink bottled water only
- Protect yourself from the sun
- Use insect repellent consistently
- Don't walk alone in unfamiliar areas
- Keep copies of important documents
- Register with your embassy if concerned
